1000w Shoot Through Studio Light DIY, Build it yourself, studio light! Predictions for the New Year!

1000w Shoot Through Studio Light

Predictions for 2007

1- Podcasting will continue to evolve primarily with some kind of monetization model.

2- While the number of Podcast producers will continue to increase the rate of change for listener development will be remain low.

3- The landscape for podcasters will define itself thus:
a- Hobbyist, will come and go with high rates of attrition. A few will remain for the long term.

b- Serious podcasters with the time and training to produce good content will stake claim to their share of the Wild West.

c- Writers, actors, comedians and other entertainment types will now be able to generate their own platform and distribution channel becoming a large percentage of Podcast producers.

d- The unemployed will leverage their new-found freedom and be able to repackage their hard earned skill sets into great Podcasts of niche information.

e- Savvy workers in positions of trust, will begin to create internal and external channels of information via the Podcast.

f- Small and medium sized businesses will attract new customers through high quality Podcast productions.

7- It will be at least another year before employers embrace podcasting podcasting as a viable medium of personnel development.

8- It took radio 20 years to become a mature medium; it will take podcasting another 5 years. The party is not over, rather it has not yet begun.

9- This will still not be the year of the great podcasting device. On the other hand,  bandwidth will be less of an issue as the math guys nail down the accuarerals.

10-We will all look back and exclaim, "What have they done to podcasting?"

What would I like to see?

1- More listeners, not for us, but for podcasting in general.

2- A podcast listening device that anyone can use.

3- A small battery operated device that uses 3 flash-ram devices. 2 for playing music and sound effects and a third that records for up to 2 hours in native wav. (It Takes 4 XLR/1/4" mike inputs.) External audio stereo input and stereo out and has an LCD faceplate that provides graphic representation of it's state and VU meters. This device should be small, run on embedded or tiny Linux and sell for $250.

4- Auto-tagging and FTP upload for GigaVox levelator.(New Version - Thanks to Doug Kaye!) Drop Audio file and Podcast is enhanced and uploaded to the website.

5- Provide a Podcaster¢¯¿½¯¿½s video editing application, which handles green screen and other essential tasks, in an intuitive manner.

6- Podcasting built into IE and Media Player.

7- A more democratic - OK communistic directory service that favors newbie¢¯¿½¯¿½s and shows with less momentum.

8-Introduce a cell phone/PDA/Camera/Camcorder/Audio recorder, which includes GMail and the ability to attach the previously mentioned media. It includes a useable QWERTY keyboard option. (Even Bluetooth)

9- Release Blogging tool that scans a secret GMail account for the posts created by the cell phone PDA in #8.

10-Adam Curry sells his stake in PodShow and buys Second Life!

Love me, hate me, check back in 2008.
